“Your smiles to your friends are like water to growing plants.” – from Gathering the Sun
From the classroom:
During our Advising Time we have continued to talk about what it means to be part of a classroom community. We discussed the elements of habitat that might be important in creating a supportive place to learn and grow. We agreed that a classroom habitat should be a place one enjoys, that has “just right” conditions, has what you need, is a home, and helps you. We made a promise together that each and every one of us will care for our classroom habitat by embracing kindness, learning, joy, and peace. Every child made a small self-portrait and signed his or her name to indicate their commitment to supporting our classroom habitat. This special document now adorns the wall of our classroom. During our reading time we began exploring Day of the Dead or El Dia de los Muertos. We grew our schema for this holiday and began making a display about Day of the Dead to help educate our community about this special Mexican celebration.
